Burgers, Tea, and Backyard Patios

I took a walk around Highland Creek village today and tried out a couple “new” food joints. I put air bunnies around the word new because they’ve actually been around for a while. I just haven’t ever had the time to go and buy anything.

First up is Shamrock Burgers:

I was surprised to see how nice this restaurant was. The last time I passed by, it still had it’s original sign but honestly, the overhaul and renovations are quite nice.

In terms of the food, the burger I had was only okay. My favourite burger joint in Scarborough is The Real McCoy’s and I still think that their burgers are better. For the same price you get a bigger, juicier one. The fries at Shamrock are definitely tastier though. I tried Kit’s onion rings and I would place them above McCoy’s as well.

We also checked out Sugarbuds which is a bakery/cafe. They specialize in doing custom cakes for birthdays, weddings, and other events so it was neat to see some of the dummy cakes they had. This bakery also had quite a large selection of both savoury and sweet goods too. We ended up getting red velvet cupcakes and brownies to share with Adam.

The cupcakes were moist and the icing wasn’t too sweet which was nice. I wasn’t a huge fan of the brownies because they were more cakey and I am a fan of the dense fudge-like kind.

The rest of the afternoon/evening was spent lounging on his patio with some tea. I am in love with Adam’s backyard and I’m sure that if I was staying this summer, I would spend a lot of time there. (Some of it possibly uninvited).
