Starting Wednesday December 7th at both Heroes World in Markham and A & C World in Toronto, Ladies get in free during Wednesday night casual sessions.

Don’t be shy! We’d like to encourage everyone to come out and participate. There will be no shortage of players available willing to help out and show you the ropes, how to improve on fundamentals, and get you prepared for the tournament itself.

As pretty much one of the few female competitors who show up to fighting game events, I’m a big advocate for building up Toronto’s community of female gamers. If you have any questions about this event, please message me here, on twitter (@Emlarr), or on Facebook! (Please reblog too!)

Street Fighter II Cupcakes! This was my first time using fondant so I’m sorry if the work is a little shoddy. I copped out a bit on Guile because I wasn’t sure how to do his hair. Otherwise, I’m pretty proud with how this went!

Learning at the HQ

So if you noticed I posted a picture of a bunch of us Toronto SF players degenning in what looked to be a wooden box. That my friends is actually TOSFHQ, a new venue we opened up in Toronto last week in order to have a place to play casuals in.
(More information on the venue can be found here: www.tinyurl.com/TOSFHQFB and here: http://shoryuken.com/f248/team-stc-presents-tosf-hq-its-here-toronto-256046/)

Even though I am one of the keyholders, I don’t go as often as the other guys as I’m rather swamped with school work and other miscellaneous things. I do try to be there at least 2-3 times a week though since that is where I get the most practice.

On Tuesday Stephen (Dark_Dragon) was there and watching me struggle trying to land Rose’s jab, jab, short, cr. strong xx spiral combo. I couldn’t land the cr. strong after the short and I think he could tell I was getting annoyed at myself for consistently failing.

Luckily for me, Stephen is a nice guy wanted to help me out so he asked if I was “plinking”. Now, I’ve heard the term used before but I never knew what it was so he spent 20 minutes with me showing me how to plink, how it works, and why it is useful. Now that I can do it, I still need to practice it in training mode so I can get the combo down 30 times in row! (Juicebox style!)

Too bad my stick is now at TOSFHQ so I can’t practice it at home. I should steal it back this weekend.
