I was late for work this morning because I like cuddling.
Every weekday morning for the past couple of weeks, I have been hitting snooze on my phone alarm so I can have 10 minutes of cuddling with Scott before we both have to wake up and leave the house. Of course, I hit the dismiss button this morning and we both fell asleep and woke up again at 8:30am.
Despite this one little mishap, I refuse to deny myself this little luxury (even if it looks silly texting my manager in the morning to tell her I slept in). It’s the little things that keep me going sometimes.
I had someone leave me a very nasty voicemail at work today which consisted of them calling me such things as: - Motherfucker - Asslicker - Bitch - Gigantic cunt
It was rather odd considering that I was trying to help them over the phone 10 minutes before this message was left. The person was really soft spoken and there was a lot of background noise in too. They were asking about renting the space for a children’s party so I was explaining everything and then they said to wait and handed the phone to their mother. I greeted her and then I was hung up on so I was left rather confused. They called back once more (oh the joys of call display) and when I picked up, nobody said anything.
Anyway, that is my exciting story for the day. I somehow think this was just some incredibly odd prank call.
I found out last night that Anamanaguchi is playing a show in Toronto on the 21st which is the same day as the Rise of the Underdogs and Chivalry is Dead Street Fighter/Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom tournament. Both events which I am participating in and helping to run. If I can run through the brackets quickly I guess that means I might be able to make the Anamanaguchi show!
I haven’t been to a concert in a long time. I think the last one I was at was when Goldfinger came to Toronto a few years ago. I’ll make this work!

As pretty much one of the few female competitors who show up to fighting game events, I’m a big advocate for building up Toronto’s community of female gamers. If you have any questions about this event, please message me here, on twitter (@Emlarr), or on Facebook! (Please reblog too!)
“Gamers get hella uncomfortable over male sexuality too. Can you imagine a “good male character who just happens to be wearing sexually exploitative outfits because he’s ok with his masculinity?” Constantly has the camera pan lovingly over his asscrack and firm glutes, and big ole dangly ballsack that is totes sweaty from all this MMA and soldiering. Time to hit the showers, and do you, personally, think it’s ok to have a long slow pan up the dude’s package (indiscreetly hidden in a jock of course), to his chiseled physique and erect nipples (pierced). He’s not even a Bond-esque confident man, he’s basically a weird Bowie caricature that’s constantly having near-dickslips in every single cinematic as the completely nonsexualized female characters do their business of being gruff and shooting dudes and advancing the plot. Finally, at the end he falls in love (out of nowhere) and/or is killed by the big baddie.”—a forum post I read recently, trying to give a solid example of what ‘male objectification in gaming ’ would actually look like if it was anything equivalent to current female objectification in gaming.
